Once upon a time, I had the chance to try out a toy from Lelo—the Ina Wave, to be precise—and that’s how I discovered I was very partial to strong vibrations. This was about 6 years ago, and since then, I was not able to get my hands on a Lelo toy again, mainly because, let’s face it, they are quite pricey. But, which is very unusual in my life, quite a lot of luck struck me recently, and I managed the famous Lelo Sona 2 Cruise in a raffle at a market I recently participated in. Yay!
I’ve heard so much raving about the toy, so I was obviously extremely curious to try it out and see what the hype is all about. In short, I do get it, but truth be told, I’ve had better. But before we dive into that, let’s look at some info about the toy.
Specifications
Lelo claims that Sona, the predecessor to Sona 2 Cruise, is “a groundbreaking clitoris stimulator that uses sonic waves and pulses to stimulate 75% more of your clitoris for a mindblowing sensation, one orgasm at a time.” 75% more in comparison to what, other clit toys, other Lelo vibes? They never say. Simply put, it is a clitoral stimulator that uses air vibration to stimulate not just the outside of your clit without even touching it, just like majority of clitoral vibrators.
It has 12 different settings, but some of them are just more intense versions of the same pattern. You control the toy with 3 buttons and charge it via USB – it takes around 2 hours to charge it, and the battery then lasts for 2 hours of playtime.
The Sona 2 Cruise is covered in very nice and smooth silicone which wraps around the whole toy, making it watertight and much easier to clean without having to worry of water getting into unwanted parts (which is an issue I have with many clit stimulators tbh).
It weighs just 125 grams and its size is 111 x 55 x 50 mm. Usually, it costs 109 euros, but at the time of the writing, Lelo has it on sale for 92,65 euros, which is actually quite okay in comparison to Womanizer, for example.
My experience
As I’ve mentioned, I expected a lot of this purple beauty. And you know how it goes when you get really excited about something: it rarely lives up to your expectations. Unfortunately, this was the case with the Sona for me too, kind of.
As an intensity enthusiast, I was impressed with the strength of the stimulation right away. Now that works for me, but I do believe it might way too much for folks with clits that are much more sensitive than mine. Hell, even for me, it gets uncomfortable sometimes. So, yes, it does deliver the promised strength, but at times, it feels like it was not properly adjusted to the delicate human body.
But my main source of annoyance is its loudness: it is so buzzy! Even the lowest vibration setting feels really loud, and mind you, I am writing this while healing from an outer ear infection that literally hinders the hearing in my right ear. Lelo says its maximum volume is 60 dB, which literally means nothing to me, to be honest, all I know it is not a toy you can use with your roommates next door.
All in all, it is a decent toy with impressive intensity, which however comes at the cost of the very high volume. But, compared to the other clit stim toys I’ve already tried out (which are Womanizer Pro and Liberty, Satisfyer Pro, Unbound Puff, and Lovehoney Rose), it just isn’t special enough to stand out for me. It’s nice and does manage to get me off quite fast, but it certainly is not my fave toy.
